Rottweilers with their robust and powerful appearance are one of the most easily recognizable dog breeds. Their compact and substantial build denotes great strength, agility and endurance. They feature strong, stocky bodies with massive heads and are slightly longer than they are tall. Their broad between the ears heads with well developed stop have a square muzzle with strong broad upper and lower jaws. Rottweilers also have medium ears that lie close to the head and hang down slightly. Rottweilers are always black with rust to mahogany markings. Their expression is alert, noble, and self-assured.
A well-bred adult Rottweiler is basically a calm, confident and courageous dog with a self assured aloofness that does not lend itself to immediate and indiscriminate friendships. Typically aloof toward strangers, but never timid or fearful, Rottweilers exhibit a “wait-and-see” attitude when confronted with new people and situations. Rottweilers have an inherent desire to protect home and family, and are an intelligent dog of extreme hardness and adaptability with a strong willingness to work, making thim especially suited as a companion, guardian and general all-purpose dog.
